Learn to Detect Counterfeit Pokémon Cards and Packaging

***** This is a real original sealed packaging from an official online dealer, 401games.ca *****

Proper side seal, tight with logo split on seam
Big white logos watermark full coverage
Proper signature heat seal marks, tight no gaps or openings
Clean crimped pack with smooth cut edges

Branding is something TCG Card makers take seriously. The logo, colours and fonts are always the same and card stock material is always a blockout dense card stock material and the borders always centered. Light should not transmit through the card and you should not see a double image. The box has a white logo watermark, the blister packs are tight, no gaps, smooth cut ends and a specific heat crimping mark.

Below are Pokémon Counterfeits purchased online from AliExpress January 2022.

They are advertised as genuine sealed original cards. These cards will be destroyed after documenting the fraud.

White logo too small, side seal is sloppy (this box is very close to genuine) but unfortunately they are all counterfeit.
This pack is wrong!! Real cards are smooth cut on the ends and heat crimped different.
This box is not even close to original. No watermark, bad seal job.
Counterfeit Box and packaging, white logos too small
Wrong heat crimping pattern, wrong end cut.
These packs are not real, they are counterfeit.
These packs are not real, they are counterfeit.

Counterfeit Vmax – Light will not pass through a genuine card… Ever!

This Vmax is Real, no double image revealing poke ball from the back side THE CARD IS NOT A FAKE

Selling or trading fake cards is strictly prohibited.

Any evidence of selling or trading fake cards, whether intentionally or not intentionally, will lead to membership revocation and removal from this site including IP blocking your computer terminal from further site access.

“The fraudster will be added to a database of offenders that will be collected and submitted to the copyright holder of the real cards to seek criminal action”.

Fake, Proxy, Reprinted Copies purchased bulk through unpoliced channels like Amazon, Ebay and AliExpress are not allowed here. The easy way to detect a fake card is by backlighting it. The real card has block out card stock. The knock offs are translucent and you can see double image. Also the branding PMS colors are off, specifically the blue and yellow. Real cards follow high standards of printing and color matching quality assurance. The illegal reproductions are digitally printed and purplish in color rather than rich blue (regarding Pokémon cards). The cropping is also off center and the coating of the fake is glossier. Real Pokémon cards are aqueous matte or more matte eggshell than gloss. You will see a different lustre on the purple fakes.
